Which airport should we fly into?
The closest airport is Salvador International Airport (SSA), located in Bahia, Brazil. We recommend that all guests book their flights to Salvador.
How do we get from the airport to the hotel? Should we rent a car?
Although Uber is very affordable in Salvador, it’s not always the safest option in certain areas. Instead, we suggest that guests form small groups and use the van service with a private driver that we’re organizing. We’ll reach out closer to the date to help coordinate transportation.
Do we need to book our own hotel?
No need! ❤️ We’ve reserved an entire resort exclusively for our wedding and all rooms are already paid for.
You’ll be staying at the resort on the following dates:
📅 Nights of the 25th and 26th of November.
Check-in is on the 24th, and check-out is on the 27th.
Just bring your suitcase and good vibes — everything else is taken care of!
Where do you recommend staying before or after the wedding?
We highly recommend staying along the “Linha Verde”, which is the beautiful north coast of Salvador.
Some of our favorite areas are:
🏖️ Praia do Forte, Guarajuba, and Imbassaí.
There are many well-known international resorts in the area, such as Gran Palladium and Iberostar.
If you're interested in renting a house with a group, let us know — we have trusted realtor contacts in Salvador, including some of our own family members who can help you find great places.
What are the plans after the wedding?
After the wedding, we’re planning a trip to a gorgeous island called Morro de São Paulo.
It’s a tropical paradise with stunning beaches, crystal-clear water, and a laid-back vibe — perfect for unwinding after the celebrations. All guests are welcome to join us!
Do I need a visa to travel to Brazil?
Yes — due to a new travel policy, U.S. citizens now need a visa to enter Brazil.
The process is simple, and the visa costs $80 USD.
Here is the official link to apply: https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/
If you hold another nationality, feel free to message us and we’ll help you check if a visa is needed.
📌 Note: If you have dual citizenship with a European passport, you do not need a visa to enter Brazil. Just travel with your European passport.
What’s the weather like in Salvador?
Salvador has a tropical climate, very similar to Florida.
You can expect temperatures to range from 70°F to 85°F (21°C to 29°C), with high humidity.
There are often brief tropical showers, especially in the afternoons, but overall the weather is warm and pleasant.
We recommend packing light, breathable clothes, sunscreen, and maybe a light rain jacket, just in case!
What is Salvador like?
Salvador is a vibrant city full of history, music, beaches, and rich Afro-Brazilian culture. It was Brazil’s first capital and is known for its colonial architecture, colorful streets, and warm, welcoming people.
It’s a coastal city with a laid-back atmosphere, delicious food, and an energetic vibe — especially during cultural festivals and celebrations.
Is it safe to travel to Salvador?
Like many large cities, Salvador has areas that are safer than others. Tourist areas and beach resorts are generally safe, especially during the day.
We recommend taking basic precautions, like avoiding walking alone at night, not flashing valuables, and using trusted transportation (we’ll be organizing vans and have reliable contacts).
You’ll be in great hands, and we’ll make sure everyone feels comfortable and secure throughout the trip.
What kind of food should we expect?
Get ready for a culinary adventure! Salvador is famous for its unique Bahian cuisine, which blends African, Indigenous, and Portuguese influences. Expect dishes with seafood, coconut milk, and bold spices.
Some must-tries:
🍤 Moqueca (seafood stew)
🍗 Acarajé (fried bean dough filled with shrimp)
🍛 Vatapá (a creamy shrimp and bread dish)
There will also be plenty of options for those with milder tastes or dietary restrictions, especially at the resort.
Do people speak English in Salvador?
Portuguese is the official language in Brazil, and English is not widely spoken outside of hotels and tourist spots.
Don’t worry — we’ll be around to help with translations when needed, and most people are friendly and eager to assist.
You might want to download Google Translate or learn a few basic phrases to make the experience even more fun!
Is there any dress code for the wedding or other events?
We’ll provide more details soon, but here’s a general idea:
👗 Dress code for the wedding: Beach formal (think elegant but breathable — light suits, summer dresses, etc.)
🕺 Other events: Casual and comfortable — think beachwear, sandals, sunglasses, and relaxed summer vibes.
We’re celebrating in paradise, so feel free to express yourself while staying cool in the tropical weather!
